As Red Pepper Paste becomes more popular, more people are willing to purchase and try it. But a lot of you still don’t know how to use it so we’re going to try and focus on some easy recipes you can try the Red Pepper Paste.
Today’s dish is with one of Korean’s most beloved foods, Pork Belly. After a long day of work or school, we like to get together with friends and order some pork belly. The sizzling sound is so comforting and for those of age, with a shot of soju, it just melts the stressful day away.
Remember it’s very spicy!
1 tbsp of Jayone Red Pepper Paste
1 tbsp of Jayone Red Pepper Powder
1 tbsp of Soy Sauce
½ tbsp of minced Garlic
1 tbsp of Plum Syrup
5 sheets of Basil Leaf cut into small strips
1 Jayone Instant Rice
8 oz of pork belly(in strips preferred)
(*You can also substitute the pork belly with shrimp.)
How to make:
In a bowl, add Red Pepper Paste, Red Pepper Powder, Soy Sauce, minced Garlic, Plum syrup and mix well
On medium heat, cook pork belly until golden(I like to soak/wipe the oil that comes out of the pork belly while cooking to avoid oil splattering around)
Lower heat and cut pork belly into bite size
Spread mixed spicy sauce onto the grilled meat. It’s better to put a little on each piece to spread it all around(We did this for about 1 minute)
*Make sure heat is low and you constantly stir it so it doesn’t burn
Microwave Jayone Instant Rice, move it to a bowl and put pork belly on top
Add some cut basil leaves and serve!
We also made a second version with shrimp. All you have to do is substitute the pork belly for the shrimp.
