Sesame Chicken Nuggets w/Gochujang Cream Dipping Sauce

Chicken nuggets are one of the all time kid’s favorite and it is often hard to come by good, reliable chicken nuggets in the store. You just don’t know what chicken parts are used and how they were processed until you bite into one. Some are good, but others can be quite nasty.  You can easily make them to be lower in calories by baking them in the oven at home.

 

 

Here is a recipe called Sesame Chicken Nuggets. They are crispy on the outside and tender in the middle. Adding a little bit of sesame seeds on the coating brings nice nutty flavor. We will dip these cuties in a dipping sauce made with Gochujang and cream.

 

With a good recipe like this, chicken nuggets are not only limited to the kids. Those who are kids at heart can surely enjoy them, too.

 

Bring them to a game night and they will be a hit.

 

 

Ingredients (4-6 servings) :

 

 

1 cup Panko bread crumbs

3 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds

1 tablespoon canola oil

2 chicken breast halves

salt and pepper to taste

½ cup flour

2 eggs well beaten

 

For the dipping Sauce:

½ tablespoon gochujang

1-1/2 tablespoon ketchup

1 tablespoon honey

4 tablespoon cream or half & half

 

 

Directions:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Preheat oven to 375 degree F. Spread Panko bread crumbs in a half sheet pan and toast them for 6-7 minutes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

They will turn into beautiful golden crumbs.

Now, turn your oven up to 450 degree F. to preheat again.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Place the crumbs in a shallow bowl and add sesame seeds…

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Drizzle in canola oil, and mix everything well. Set aside.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dice up the chicken breasts into chunks and season with salt and pepper lightly.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Put some flour in a bowl and beat eggs in another. The coating ingredients are ready to go.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Coat each chicken piece with flour lightly, then into beaten eggs…

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

and finally, coat with sesame bread crumb mixture.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Place the chicken pieces on the baking sheet lined with baking mat or parchment paper.

Bake them in the preheated 450 degree F. oven for 10-12 minutes. (Turn your chicken to the other side about the halfway of the baking time)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Meanwhile, let’s make the dipping sauce.

Combine gochujang, ketchup, honey and cream (or half & half) in a bowl.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mix all together. You can adjust the amount of each ingredient for your taste.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The breadcrumb coating is irresistibly crispy, crunchy, and nutty. And the dipping sauce injects the right amount of spiciness with hint of sweetness to go with these nuggets.

 

 

The only problem? You just can’t stop your hand from reaching for another piece. Enjoy!
